Jio important announcement

Here is a simple explanation for you:

If you have a jio number and you call a non-jio number like Airtel, Idea, Vodafone, BSNL etc. You will be charged 6 paise per minute also while ringing. If you want to call a jio number or any landline number you will not pay for it. All incoming call and WhatsApp calls are unaffected from this. The IUC charges applicable for both prepaid and postpaid customers. If you recharge any plan after 10-0ct-2019 you will be charged, if already done don't worry about it.

Before worry about, Jio released four IUC plans with extra data benefits for their customers. All plans are listed below:

What is IUC?

IUC or Interconnect Usage Charge is the amount a telecom operator pays to another telecom operator to make outgoing calls from a telecom operator to another telecom operator.

Why does this happen to jio?

TRAI (Telecom Regulatory  Authority of  India) already made an amendment to reducing the IUC to zero from early 2020.

Jio continued to pay the IUC to Airtel, Vodafone, Idea etc. from its own assets. while offering free voice to its customers. So far, in the last three years, Jio paid almost Rs.13,500 crore as NET IUC charges to the other operators.

Due to the free plans of jio, they get 25-30 crores missed calls from other Airtel, Vodafone, Idea 2G customers on a daily basis. Rather, the Jio customers call back results in 65 to 75 crore minutes of outgoing traffic.

For all Jio customer recharges starting today, calls to other mobile operators will be billed at the prevailing IUC level of 6 paise per minute via IUC top-up vouchers before TRAI switches to Zero termination fee scheme. This deadline is currently 1 January 2020.
